For me, producing art has always been inspired by the desire to express my experiences in a manner driven by exploration in materials such as oil paint, rhinestones, performance, storytelling and fabric. As a queer Appalachian woman, a sense of community is a driving force in my creative journey as well as an understanding and recognition of a personal standing within said communities. My work visually expresses an attempt to de-stigmatize queer eroticism within and apart from approving and disapproving communities. In practice I produce work that focuses on how erotic and platonically driven experiences shape me. My process includes selecting appropriate materials for the work being produced, taking into consideration visual texture, physical touch and visually stimulating presentation. My goal remains to create a sense of comfortability with the body in a literal and communal sense and shed light of how intimacy is a driving force in life.
